A Church for LIFE

The Cityview Story

We are a mutlicultural congregation just off Main Street in the city of Vancouver. Our mission is bring life to the city by loving God, by including people in the gospel of Jesus Christ, by finding freedom in the truth, and by empowering people to change the world. We believe that changing the world starts close to home!

Cityview Baptist Church began in east Vancouver about March 1979 with door to door visiting to tell about the new church plant. A home bible study began near Victoria and 54th and the first public worship service was held on May 27, 1979 in the Korean Baptist Church building at Gladstone & 32nd Avenue. Six persons attended the first service of "Gladstone Baptist Church".

The new church had no core group of members. It's one asset was a vision to plant a multi-cultural church in the City of Vancouver. Local missions director Henry Blackaby gave this advice to the new church: "Regard everyone you meet as a divine appointment!"
