The Seed-to-Sky Garden Club meets in our building and expertly maintains the community garden in our parking lot. The Garden Club welcomes Cityview’s plant enthusiasts and the general public to join them in their program of ongoing learning.

May 1st topic:  Owen Ballance is currently a horticulturist at the UBC Botanical Garden where he is building upon his base of knowledge dealing with rare and sensitive plantings.  His presentation will explore Monet's Garden in Giverny, France, which is one of the world's most glorious gardens.  In this presentation, we will take a look into what makes Monet's garden work including his use of colour, the plant selection, and the ongoing and regular maintenance which keeps the garden looking "show ready" throughout its open season.  Using Monet's paintings as a guide, our presenter will share his experience working in this fantastic historical garden.

What to bring:

  • a mug for tea

  • a donation for the draw or refreshments table

  • a pillow or "something soft" to cushion your chari (if you get a metal one)
